HOTEL HISTORY
Hotel Das Innsbruck
The history of an extraordinary house or how a city wall became a city hotel ...
The founders
The Hotel Innsbruck was built by Johann Ischia on the foundations of the former city wall. Exclusivity and tradition are combined in the hotel to create a very special experience full of modern life and tangible history.
The origins
of today's Hotel Innsbruck go back to Josefa and Johann Ischia (1870-1930). After the First World War, the Ischis founded a company that soon became very successful and profitable. The purchase of the traditional Roter Adler inn and its renovation led to the realization of a modern hotel business. Later the management of the house was transferred to daughter Dora and her son Johann Ischia jun. In 1974, construction work began on today's Hotel Innsbruck, a project that Johann Ischia jun. carried out with great dedication and personal commitment.
Innovations
For generations, the Ischia family has demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit, vision and innovative strength. Innsbruck's first passenger lift was already installed in the "Roter Adler" inn – a novelty that caused a sensation in this region. Johann Ischia and his wife Margit made the Hotel Innsbruck one of the most modern hotels in the city right from the start. The integration of an indoor swimming pool, a large sauna and its own underground car park set standards in the Innsbruck hotel scene. Since then it has been a matter of course to constantly invest in the infrastructure and expansion of the hotel.
Chronology 1999 – 2015
Until the year 2000 Margit Ischia and daughter Verena ran the company together. Finally Margit Ischia retired from active management and handed over the house to her daughter. In the following years, investments were continuously made for the well-being of the guests.
